What they will take

  • old furniture — wardrobe, sofa, bed, table, chairs, mattress
  • office furniture — desks, chairs, shelving
  • appliances — fridge, washing machine, cooker, television, air conditioner
  • the contents of a cellar or balcony — old belongings, jars, equipment
  • carpets, curtains, large quantities of clothing
  • bicycles, prams, exercise machines
  • household rubbish in quantity — after clearing a flat
  • yard and balcony waste — wood, metal, plastic

If construction debris is mixed in with the items, it fits on one call-out — see construction-waste removal.

Carrying down and dismantling on site

The hardest part of removing old furniture is not the vehicle — it is getting it down. An old sliding-door wardrobe or a three-seat sofa often will not go through the flat door and has to be taken apart where it stands, sometimes sawn up.

An experienced crew comes with tools: the furniture is dismantled on the spot, carried out in pieces and loaded. Protecting the stairwell walls and the lift often matters more than the furniture itself, which is being thrown out anyway.

With most providers, carrying down and dismantling are included in the price and are not charged separately — but confirm it on the call, along with the floor and the lift.

Removal prices

Indicative ranges for the Tbilisi market.

Removal prices
Service Price
Construction waste — small call-out approx. 5 m³ · demolition debris, plaster, tiles from 120 per call-out
Construction waste — large call-out approx. 12 m³ · waste from a full renovation from 220 per call-out
Old furniture and household junk removal furniture, appliances, clearing a cellar or balcony from 100 per call-out

These are indicative prices, not an offer. Only the provider sets the final amount — based on volume, floor, lift and the distance between addresses.

How to choose a provider

Four questions that rule out unpleasant surprises:

  1. 01 “Are carrying down and dismantling on site included?” — that is half the job.
  2. 02 “How much do the floor and the lift affect the price?” — it should be said on the call.
  3. 03 “Do I have to be in the flat?” — if you cannot be there, will they accept a key handover.
  4. 04 “What happens to items that are still usable?” — the answer should be honest.

Clearing a flat before letting or selling it

A separate case is a flat that has to be cleared completely — before letting, before selling, or after an inheritance. Here what matters is speed, and that the flat is left empty and swept.

A crew of two or three usually comes out for this and, if necessary, makes several trips. If there are things in the flat you want to keep, mark them in advance or walk through together.

If you no longer live there and cannot be present, many providers will accept a key handover and send photographs when the work is done. Agree that on the call.

What they will not take

Frequently asked questions

How much does removing old furniture cost?
A call-out usually starts from 100 ₾ and depends on the volume. A single sofa or wardrobe fits within the minimum call-out; clearing a whole room or cellar costs more. Carrying down and dismantling on site are included in the price with most providers.
The furniture is on the sixth floor and the lift is out — will they take it?
Yes. In that case the furniture is usually dismantled in the flat and carried down in pieces. The floor and the state of the lift should be known on the call so the crew size and the time can be planned properly.
Do they take old fridges and appliances?
Yes — fridges, washing machines, cookers, televisions, air conditioners. These are bulky items that an ordinary rubbish container will not take.
How long does clearing a whole flat take?
Clearing a two-room flat completely is usually half a day with a crew of two or three. If the flat has been filling up for years, it can take a full day and two trips.
Some of the items are still usable — what happens to them?
If something is in good condition and you want it to be of use to someone, say so on the call — it is often taken separately. Removal providers are not second-hand shops and do not usually give a discount in return.
Do I have to be there?
Usually not. If you cannot be present, providers will agree to a key handover or an arrangement with a neighbour or caretaker; they send photographs when the work is finished and payment is made by transfer.
