Apartment moving

Compare providers who move a complete apartment — service, timing, price and reviews — then contact the one you choose directly.

Moving an apartment in Tbilisi is usually a one-day job: packing, taking furniture apart, carrying it down, transport, carrying it up and reassembling it at the new address. A one-room flat starts from 80 ₾, a two- or three-room flat from 130 ₾.

Below are the providers operating in Tbilisi who handle a complete move, and the things worth actually comparing: what the price includes, how long it takes, and who packs the small items.

How an apartment move differs from moving furniture

In an apartment move most of what you own is small: crockery, clothes, books, appliances, children’s things. That is the part that eats the day if it has not been packed in advance — and it is where providers’ prices differ most.

So two things decide the phone assessment: how many rooms there are, and whether you pack the small items or the crew does. Crew size and time follow from that — and so does whether it finishes in one day.

If the new flat is still being renovated and some things have to go somewhere else for a while, say so in advance: a call-out to two addresses is charged separately everywhere.

What size of van an apartment needs

An approximate match — the exact answer comes from the provider on the call.

Studio / 1 roomsmall van, ~6 m³2 loaders
2 roomsmedium truck, ~12 m³2–3 loaders
3 roomsmedium or large, 12–20 m³3 loaders
4+ rooms / houselarge truck, 20 m³+, possibly two trips3–4 loaders

If the flat holds a lot of books, tools or workshop equipment, the volume is larger than usual — mention it on the call.

Apartment moving prices

Indicative ranges. The price of a full move usually covers the vehicle call-out, the crew, and taking standard furniture apart and putting it back together.

Apartment moving prices
Service Price
Small van approx. 6 m³ — contents of 1–2 rooms, individual furniture from 80 per call-out
Medium truck approx. 12 m³ — a 2–3 room apartment from 130 per call-out
Large truck approx. 20 m³ — a 3+ room apartment, an office from 190 per call-out

These are indicative prices, not an offer. Only the provider sets the final amount — based on volume, floor, lift and the distance between addresses.

Packing small items, floors without a lift and packing materials are separate lines — see the prices page.

How to choose a provider for an apartment move

Five questions that separate a serious provider from a casual crew while you are still on the phone:

  1. 01 “Will it finish in one day?” — if the answer is vague, the crew is probably small for the volume.
  2. 02 “Who packs the small items?” — if it is you, that is another 1–2 days of your own time.
  3. 03 “Are the packing materials yours or mine?” — cardboard and film are often a separate line.
  4. 04 “Can you call at two addresses?” — if some of it is going elsewhere.
  5. 05 “Can you take away the old furniture too?” — on the same call-out it is usually cheaper.

Packing list — what you do yourself

If you are packing the small items yourself, this list saves time and money:

  • crockery and glassware — individually, in paper, in small boxes (a big box of crockery cannot be lifted)
  • books — small boxes only, or the box tears
  • clothes — in bags or boxes; anything on hangers separately
  • documents, jewellery, money, keys — with you, not with the crew
  • appliances — use the original box if you have it; switch the fridge off the day before and let it warm up
  • label boxes with the room, and with “fragile” where it applies
  • medicines, chargers, kettle — in one separate bag, for the first day

Mattress, pillows and bedding are packed last — you need them until the final night.

How moving day runs

A typical two-room apartment move goes like this:

  1. Stage 01

    Morning — packing and disassembly

The crew arrives with cardboard, film and tools. Wardrobes and beds come apart; appliances, mirrors and crockery are wrapped. Boxes are labelled by room.

  2. Stage 02

    Carrying down and loading

Things come down from the flat and are loaded in order: large furniture first, then boxes, fragile items last. Everything is secured with straps.

  3. Stage 03

    Transport and carrying up

At the new address boxes go into the rooms they are labelled for — not into one pile in the hallway.

  4. Stage 04

    Reassembly and hand-over

Furniture is reassembled where you want it, drawers and doors are checked, and the leftover packing is taken away. The final walk-through is done together.

Moving an apartment without a lift

In Tbilisi’s older buildings there is often no lift, or it does not work. That does not stop a move, but it changes two things: more loaders and more time — and both are money.

A narrow or winding staircase is its own problem: some sofas and wardrobes will not go down it and have to be taken apart in the flat. If the stairwell is narrow, say so on the call.

Counting floors should be transparent — from 10 ₾ per floor, per load. If a provider will not give you that figure on the phone, you will probably learn it on the day.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an apartment move take?
A one-room flat — usually 3–5 hours. Two rooms — 5–7 hours. Three rooms or more — a full working day. If the small items are packed in advance, that comes down by 2–3 hours.
Does the provider pack, or do I prepare everything myself?
Both are common. Wrapping furniture, appliances and fragile items is normally the crew’s work; the small things — crockery, clothes, books — are a matter of agreement and count as extra time. Packing materials are often a separate line.
Can a move go to two addresses?
Yes — some furniture to the new flat, the rest to another address or to storage, for example. Agree it in advance, because it changes the route and the loading order and shows up in the price.
Do providers work at weekends?
Most work at weekends too — Saturday is the busiest day. Working hours are on each provider’s card where they have supplied them. Booking 2–3 days ahead is advisable.
What about old furniture I don’t want in the new flat?
Many providers will take it away on the same call-out — that is the old-furniture and junk removal service and it is priced separately. Mention it on the call so they allow for the volume.
How is payment made?
Usually in cash or by bank transfer once the work is done; most providers do not ask for a deposit. An invoice and cashless payment are available from providers who work with businesses.
