Furniture moving in Tbilisi

Moving furniture is not just the van — most of the work happens inside the flat. A full service usually covers:

• disassembling furniture — wardrobes, beds, tables, shelving
• packing and labelling the fittings separately, so nothing is lost before reassembly
• wrapping corners, glass and polished surfaces in bubble wrap
• wrapping upholstered furniture — sofas, armchairs, mattresses — in stretch film
• carrying items down from the flat and loading them with securing straps
• transport within Tbilisi
• carrying items up at the new address and reassembling them where you want them
• taking away the leftover packing material

Not every provider does all of this. Some offer transport and carrying only — that is cheaper, but disassembly and assembly are then left to you. Each card states what that provider actually does.

On furniture moving the price alone tells you little — what matters is what it includes. These are the parameters worth comparing:

These are indicative prices, not an offer. Only the provider sets the final amount — based on volume, floor, lift and the distance between addresses.

Five questions that separate a serious provider from a casual crew while you are still on the phone:

1. 01 “What is included in that price?” — whether disassembly, packing materials and floors are charged on top.
2. 02 “How many people will come?” — crew size decides directly whether it finishes in one day.
3. 03 “Is the price fixed or hourly?” — and if hourly, what the minimum block is.
4. 04 “What happens if something is damaged?” — the answer should be specific, not “nothing will be damaged”.
5. 05 “Can we walk through the items together before loading?” — this protects both sides from arguments about pre-existing damage.

When you compare prices, compare like with like: “80 ₾, transport only” and “130 ₾, full service” are different products.

   Assessment by phone

   Describe what has to move, from where to where, which floor, and whether there is a lift. With that, the provider can tell you the van size, the crew size and the price. Assessment is free almost everywhere.

   Stage 02

   Agreeing a time

   Book the day and the hour. If parking in the courtyard or at the entrance is difficult, say so in advance — on the day it costs time.

   Stage 03

   Disassembly, packing, loading

   The crew arrives with packing materials and tools. Furniture is taken apart, wrapped and loaded; straps and a trolley are used for heavy items.

   Unloading and reassembly

   At the new address the furniture goes into the rooms you point out, is reassembled and checked — drawers, doors, shelves. The final walk-through is done together.

Not every move is a whole apartment. Often it is a single wardrobe, sofa, fridge or washing machine going from one address to another — from a furniture shop to your home, say, or from your flat to your parents’.

In that case a small van and two loaders are enough, and the minimum call-out starts from 80 ₾. If the item is heavy or has to come down a narrow staircase, say so on the call — the crew size depends on it.

When moving appliances on their own — a fridge, a washing machine, a television — remember that a fridge has to stand for a while after transport before it is switched back on.
